Week of October 26

CONGRATULATIONS to all Orchestra students for doing a TERRIFIC job at the fall concert last Tuesday! It continues being a thrill to work with all of you this year!

Songs of the Week:
6th: Old MacDonald
7th: Tumblers - beginning to A
8th: Santa plays... - meas 1-20

6th Grade:
Book pages 13-17
Review Twinkle rhythms
D Scale

7th Grade:
New music! Carefully look over notes and rhythms in Tumblers and Adirondack. The other pieces are a lot simpler!

8th Grade:
New music! It has a lot of key changes, so make a note when you switch to a different scale. Play the scale before forging ahead into the new section of music.

FUND DRIVE ITEMS ARRIVE TUESDAY, OCTOBER 27!! Please pass them out and collect timely payment. All money is due by November 10 if you wish to remain eligible for prizes. Thanks for your support!

All students should be working on polishing the music for the concert next week, Tuesday, October 20. See concert reminder below. Get ready for chills: the 6th grade Scary Story, Creepy Crawl-ies from the 7th grade, and the Waltz of the Wicked brought to you by the 8th graders. A night to remember-see you there!

FALL CONCERT REMINDER

What: 6, 7, 8 Grade Orchestra Concert
When: Tuesday, October 20, 2009
Time: 7:00 PM
Arrival time for students: 6:30 PM
6th Grade to Orchestra room
7th & 8th Grade meet in Band room
Where: Northview Middle School Auditorium
Dress: White dress shirt
Dark dress pants (black, charcoal, navy)
Dark dress shoes
Students not dressed appropriately will not perform and not get a passing grade.
This concert is part of our class requirements and a letter grade will be given.
Students are expected to stay for the whole concert and quietly listen to all groups perform.

FALL FESTIVAL REMINDER

EVERYTHING HAPPENS ON:
MONDAY, OCTOBER 5, 2009

DURING SCHOOL:
REHEARSAL AT NORTH CENTRAL
8th graders will eat during Orchestra class
We will walk over to NCHS at 11:15
Rehearsal from 11:30-1:00
We will walk back to NV by 1:15
Students are responsible for all missed class work!

IN THE EVENING:
CONCERT AT NORTH CENTRAL – SAME DAY
ARRIVE AT NCHS NO LATER THAN 6:30 PM
ENTER DOOR 5 – JEL side of NCHS
Follow signs to Orchestra room to unpack instruments.
TALK TO YOUR COACHES ABOUT GETTING OUT OF PRACTICE EARLY.
PACK A DINNER. BRING YOUR CONCERT CLOTHES!
CELLOS AND BASSES MUST BRING THEIR HOME INSTRUMENT.
CONCERT BEGINS AT 7:00 PM

CONCERT DRESS:
WHITE DRESS SHIRT
BLACK OR BLUE DRESS PANTS
DARK DRESS SHOES
NO JEANS, SNEAKERS, T-SHIRTS!!!

STUDENTS ARE EXPECTED TO STAY FOR THE WHOLE CONCERT.

TWO (2) FREE TICKETS TO THE CONCERT ARE ATTACHED.
IF THERE ARE NO TICKETS, THE STUDENT LOST THE FIRST SET.
COST OF ADMISSION AT THE DOOR IS $5 EACH.
